My True Love Gave To Me

I was intending on finishing this book before I posted about it but due to school taking over my life a little bit, I haven't had the chance to finish it yet, sorry! This book is your typical teen romance novel set at Christmas with a twist - it's actually a collection of 12 short stories! It features authors such as Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl, Attachments), Gayle Forman (If I Stay), Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss) and David Levithan (co-author of Will Grayson, Will Grayson with John Green) and there really is something for everyone!

So far, I'm about to start the 8th stories and I've enjoyed all of them except the 7th, because it was a fantasy element of Holly Black's that I didn't really agree with and I actually ended up skipping it! Aside from that, all of the stories have filled me with a warm, festive glow that is the perfect way to end an evening on the lead up to Christmas.
Personally, I am loving the short story format because it means that I can read a whole story in one go, as they only take me about half an hour to get through.
The only real issue that I have with this book that's worth commenting on is that the edges of the pages are bright pink - would I have still ordered the book if I'd known that? Yes, but I would've liked to have known beforehand - coloured page edges aren't really my thing.
If this book is something that interests you, I would also recommend looking into Let It Snow, which is a collection of three longer short stories (if that makes sense haha!) by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle - it's one that I re-read every year and I love it.
What are your favourite festive books to read at this time of year?

    1. It's really convenient for me because it means I have a good place to stop every night but the trouble with having 12 stories is that they are all really quite short! I would recommend it though :) x

  2. This is on my wishlist, it's sooo pretty (not to judge a book by it's cover :p) but I'm currently reading Let It Snow :)

    1. If I'm honest that's the reason why I looked into it and then when I realised how many of the authors I loved, I couldn't help but pick it up! Let me know what you think of Let It Snow, I love it so much! x
