The Christmas Jumper Edit

Oh what, another Christmas-related post? What a surprise!
As you may know, I'm working as an elf this holiday season and a lot of people come into visit wearing Christmas jumpers. I've even asked a couple of families where they got theirs because Christmas jumpers are my favourite item of clothing at this time of year (snuggly AND festive - who can blame me?!) and a surprising amount of them said they got theirs from Asda, so I decided to take a look!

The Knot

So tonight's a nice, cosy evening and I'm snuggled up in bed reading on my iPad, and I thought I would do a post about what I'm currently reading. According to the kindle app, I am currently 70% of the way through so I think I'm in a position where I can make a judgement of it!

Staying Thankful

This post is in tribute to any American readers I may have gained so far! It's going to be a little more personal than normal so if you're not interested, feel free to skip this one and look forward to a few Christmas themed posts coming over the next few days!

-

I'm actually really struggling to stay thankful at the moment so this is a bit of a struggle for me to write, but I suppose that's the purpose of thanksgiving - to remind yourself to stay grateful for what you have, no matter what's going on.

So, this year I would just like to say that I am thankful for:

The thumbs that I am using to type this post on my phone. My phone. The mobile internet I am using to post this as I get the bus home from school. The convenience of which I can get public transport home. The fact that I have a home. My family, whom I live with. My stepdad, without whom I would not see my mother smile nearly as much, nor would I have my siblings. The fact that I can keep in contact with my older brother, despite him travelling around South East Asia. The planes that flew him safely across the world. My ability to speak not only one language, but have the choice to learn many more also. My education, and the opportunities I have been presented with as a result. My freedom. My creativity. My passions.

-

I challenge you to leave a comment telling me about what you are thankful for, despite the gloom of the weather outside or the argument you had earlier or the struggles you're facing. Everyone has something to be grateful for, something to live for.

How I Stay Organised!

In general, I tend to be quite a busy bee with various different commitments that I have.
I think my worst nightmare would be having to let people down by admitting that I'd managed to double (or even triple) book myself so I like to carefully plan and keep track of what I'm meant to be doing for people and I have two things that really help me with that!

Upon Receiving UCAS Offers...

I've always said that I want this blog to be something to store my memories in so I figured I might as well start posting more personal experiences!
Last night, I received an email from UCAS informing me that I had received my final offer for a university place next year.
I can't decide whether I should be more feeling proud of myself or scared that I'm growing up!
I'm really glad I've got all of my offers early on because it means that I don't have to let the stress affect my Christmas cheer and I can focus on my friends and their offers now, but still - I feel far too young for all this!
The thought of moving out next year is a very scary one - who is going to tell me to suck it up Megan it's just a paper cut when I'm hurt? Who's going to wake me up when I've been asleep all evening and remind me to eat? Who's going to be my best friend when the whole world is falling apart?
Then again, moving out means I have a good excuse to start buying little homeward knick-knacks to decorate with!
What do you think? When was the first moment when it really dawned on you that you were growing up?

14 Things for Christmas 2014

1. Christmas Trees
My Christmas tree goes up the first Sunday of December every year (which just so happened to be the 1st this year!) but since I work on Sundays now, it meant I'm going to miss out on decorating it. Which is actually quite fortunate, as it usually means fighting with my little sisters over where everything goes... Coming home to a pretty, lit-up tree is much more stressful! My family also decided to decorate our piano this year, which was a really cute touch.

My Bucket List

I thought I'd do a bit of a different post today. I was thinking recently about everything on my bucket list (side note: if you don't know what a bucket list is, it's essentially a list of things that you want to do before you die) and I realised that actually, I've done quite a few of them, so I thought I'd share them here.
