Dr Jart Clear Away Gel

Today I thought I'd review a product that came in one of my BirchBoxes a little while ago that I've been using a lot recently and share my feelings about it. It is the Dr Jart Pore Refine Clear Away Gel, which is a chemical exfoliant, which claims to exfoliant and smooth the surface of your skin.
"Dr. Jart+ Pore Refine Clear Away Gel is a gentle exfoliator which helps to remove dead skin cells and refine enlarged pores.
Perfect for sensitive and problematic complexions, Pore Refine Clear Away Gel has a gentle massaging action which buffs away dead skin cells and surface impurities to deliver a clean and smooth skin surface texture.
Natural Cellulose and Rosemary Extract work synergistically to nourish and effectively exfoliate the skin, whilst Sage and Gall Extracts calm irritation and tighten enlarged pores. Free from harsh Chemicals and Synthetic Dyes, Pore Refine Clear Away Gel offers sebum control and pore refinement without irritating dry and sensitive skin types.
Pore Refine Peeling Gel helps to leave the skin silky soft, whilst maintaining healthy moisture levels and leaves the complexion looking smooth, clear and radiant."

I've been using this product about twice a week after cleansing my face and the first time I used it was certainly an odd experience for me! I've found that it works best if you start with a dry face rather than a wet face which was new in itself but the way that this product works is that you keep massaging it into your skin until you can feel little pieces of your skin peeling off, a bit like when you get sunburnt and it starts to peel!
This product has been a miracle for me lately whilst I've been having extremely dry patches on my forehead. Without going into too much detail because it's a bit gross, I've had really flaky skin above my eyebrows and no amount of moisturiser seems to be doing it any good - the only solution I've found is to scrub the area using this product!

One thing that I have found is that if I use this product too frequently, it can leave my face looking quite red after using it. It's not caused any irritation or anything, but I remember looking in the mirror within the first week of using it after having used it too often and finding a bright red face with little lumps of dead skin stuck to it staring back - it wasn't the most pretty sight to say the least...

I've never tried any products from Dr Jart before trying this out so obviously I can't speak about anything other than this specific product but I have heard good things about their products, especially their BB Creams which I'm tempted to pick up for the summer!

In general, I'm really enjoying using this exfoliant and I'm definitely glad I got it in my BirchBox. Am I rushing out to spend £15 on another one of these 70ml tubes? Not necessarily, but it's definitely doing the job for now!

Have you tried this Clear Away Gel before? Let me know!

  1. I've used similar stuff before (I am *so* acne prone it's not fair!) and I agree, you can use them but not too often. I use a Vichy serum afterwards, it cools and calms my skin so it doesn't throw a tantrum at me! :)

  2. Ooh this sounds like a really lovely product and one my skin could certainly use xx

  3. I have the most flakey skin around the eyes! Every now and then I will get it all over my face this sounds like the perfect product for me!

Thank you so much for your follow on bloglovin - I have followed back and can't wait to see more!
