A while ago, I heard about EmmaLouise's #LessIsMore campaign, where she's challenging bloggers to create a face of make up using only 5 products and I decided to join in!

(Excuse the really awkward photos of me...!)
1: Cream Eyeshadow (Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Bikini-Tini)
No matter what kind of make up look I'm going for, it always starts off with Bikini-Tini as a base! It's a pale champagne shade with a lot of shimmer and it really helps colours to blend together and last all day. Another thing that I really like to use it for is as a cream highlighter on my face - I just get a bit on my fingertips and tap it onto the tops of my cheeks to give the perfect amount of glow!

2: Liquid Eyeliner (Rimmel GlamEyes
I used to be a felt tip liner kind of girl but recently, I've been loving using a proper liquid eyeliner with a brush applicator, especially this one from Rimmel! However I do find that when it applies, it at first is quite liquid-y (duh!) but that means that it can transfer and smudge if you're not careful about leaving it to set! I think liquid liner really competes a look and makes you look like you've put in a lot more effort than you actually have

3: Mascara (Benefit Roller Lash) This is more of a symbol than a specific product as, shock horror, I'm not actually a fan of Roller Lash! I find it to make me lashes a bit too clumpy for my liking and they stick out at odd angles which isn't ideal. But for me, mascara (especially when used with my trusty Japonesque eyelash curlers) is a daily essential!

4: Foundation (L'Oreal True Match in N1)
This is a relatively new foundation for me and I really like it! It's very lightweight and doesn't feel like you're wearing make up, but still providing a pretty decent amount of coverage. One thing that I would point out is that I have quite dry skin and this foundation does not work well with my particularly dry patches so if that's something you have an issue with, you may not want to buy this! I prefer using a foundation to a concealer, even when doing minimal make up, because I find foundation to be a lot more lightweight and generally boosts my confidence a lot more than concealer does! Plus you can just apply another layer in areas where you need that bit more coverage

5: Brow Gel (Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown)
I'm not really a brow kind of girl but I do like them to like fairly presentable and this is the perfect product for me! I know a lot of people don't like the 'bulb' like wand but I find it's the best size to just quickly sweep through my brows, keep them in place and add a little bit of colour at the same time!

So, that's my five product face!
I think it's really important to give your skin a break and to remind yourself that make up really isn't everything in life! I know that each and everyone of you is beautiful inside and out and whilst no, you should never feel bad about yourself for wearing make up, you shouldn't feel bad about yourself without make up!
So, I challenge you - join the campaign! Can you create a whole make up look with just 5 products? Make sure to tweet a link to your post and use the hashtag #LessIsMore so that other people can see your posts! Or just leave me a comment and let me know what your 5 products would be!

  1. This is such a good idea! I have to agree with the products you've chosen, espescially some sort of brow product!! Great post :) x

    1. Haha thank you, brows are becoming more and more important to me recently! x

  2. Pretty makeup look - I love the benefit roller lash mascara x

    1. Thank you! I find it makes my lashes a bit too clumpy and is a right pain to remove but I don't think it's awful, just not worth the price compared to Bad Gal or They're Real! x

  3. Oh what a fun challenge!! Hmm if I were to do this my 5 products would be: a brow pencil, liquid eyeliner, mascara, concealer and powder! :)

    1. Sounds like a good bunch of picks to me! I have pretty dry skin so luckily I don't need powder as an absolute essential! x

  4. This sounds like a good idea I might give this a try nextvweek :)

    1. I give Emma full credit for the idea aha! I would recommend trying it, it really changes your outlook on make up x

  5. I love the True Match foundation. In fact I don't think I've ever found a Loreal foundation I don't get on with. It's a mix of how pale it is (so hard to find) and that it doesn't cause break outs.
I wasn't that impressed by Roller Lash either. It's not like it's *bad*, but for Benefit I kind of expected more, especially since it was so hyped before it came out.
